Knds appoints Nick Surber as general counsel

Franco-German defence giant KNDS has named Nick Surber its new general counsel.

KMW+Nexter Defense Systems (KNDS) is a European defence industry holding company, which is the result of the merger between Germany’s Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and France’s Nexter Systems.

Shortly after restructuring its management bodies, the defence technology group KNDS is also strengthening its administrative management at its headquarters in Amsterdam (Netherlands). Nicander Johannes (Nick) Surber, a Dutch national, has joined the company as general counsel. He is thus responsible for Legal, Corporate Governance and Compliance and also assumes the function of corporate secretary. In this role, he succeeds Margaret Hill, who is leaving KNDS of her own accord on the best amicable terms after four successful years.

Nick Surber (pictured) is a lawyer (advocaat) in The Netherlands and has extensive legal and operational experience in the areas of Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Contract Law, Financing and setting up corporate structures.

He has ample experience in advising and cooperating with US, UK and German companies (both listed and privately held). His professional career history includes executive positions in industry and in renowned Dutch law firms. Most recently, he was responsible for Anglo-American and German clients at Barentskrants in The Hague, where he worked on M&A/Financing, Corporate/Insolvency and Corporate/M&A.
