Alexander Lacher Appointed new CEO of Fortuna Life Insurance

Alexander Lacher has been appointed Fortuna Life Insurance’s new CEO.  Lacher is also general counsel of Generali Group Switzerland. He has been member of the management and taking over the department of Legal & Compliance of the insurance company since 2018.  After been appointed last May 2022 as Chairman Of The Board Of Directors at Fortuna Lebens-Versicherungs, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Generali (Switzerland) Holding, Lacher  has announced this new appointment on a LinkedIn post saying: “I’m delighted to announce that I have accepted a new position as CEO for Fortuna Life Insurance (Liechtenstein) as per 1 Sep (in addition to my role as General Counsel for Generali Switzerland).This is a great opportunity to expand my skills so I want to thank our Swiss CEO Christoph Schmallenbach for his continued trust and support. I’m excited to start my new job!”

Lacher is an insurance executive and business-minded insurance lawyer with almost 20 years of experience in advising and managing legal & compliance operations of insurers and insurance-related asset managers. Prior to Generali, he led the department of insurance Law at Ernst & Young. Before that he worked in the international corporate client business of the Zurich as senior compliance officer, as Head of legal & compliance at the sickness and accident insurer ÖKK and as General Counsel and administrative secretary at Twelve Capital, an asset manager specialising in insurance.

He is the co-author of the Basler Kommentar on the Swiss Insurance Supervision Act and regularly publishes articles on the subject of insurance law. Alexander Lacher is also a lecturer at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in compliance and labour law. Lacher was awarded as a In-House Counsel of the Year Insurance by Legalcommunity on 2020.

Regarding Fortuna Life Insurance, the company was founded in 1996 and has its registered office in Vaduz in the Principality of Liechtenstein. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Generali Switzerland Holding, the market leader in unit-linked life insurances in Switzerland.
