KPMG Switzerland welcomes Alexander Lacher
KPMG Switzerland, a global professional services firm, has announced the appointment of Alexander Lacher (pictured) as a Partner in its Financial Services division, specializing in insurance regulatory and compliance. This appointment marks an important milestone for KPMG Switzerland, as it sets up a dedicated Insurance Regulatory & Compliance practice group to enhance its services in this crucial sector.
Lacher brings an impressive legacy of over two decades of experience within the insurance sector to KPMG Switzerland. His illustrious career has been defined by a myriad of roles and accomplishments, making him a highly distinguished asset to the KPMG family.
In his new role, he will assume the critical responsibility of providing expert counsel to Swiss and Liechtenstein insurers, reinsurers, captives, insurance brokers, as well as Swiss health and accident insurers, primarily focusing on regulatory and compliance intricacies. His profound expertise in this domain is poised to significantly augment KPMG’s prowess in delivering tailored solutions to clients within the insurance industry.
Before joining KPMG, Alexander Lacher served as the General Counsel and a member of the management team at General Switzerland for over five years. This experience granted him valuable insights into the insurance industry’s legal intricacies and regulatory challenges. Additionally, he took on the role of CEO at Fortuna Life Insurance in Liechtenstein, further expanding his executive leadership skills in the sector.
Lacher’s diverse professional background also includes consulting with a Big 4 firm, investment management with a specific focus on insurance-linked securities, and involvement in health and accident insurance, particularly in matters regulated by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). His experience in corporate insurance, particularly in multinational programs with an emphasis on Alternative Risk Transfer, adds another layer of expertise to his profile.
In addition to his corporate contributions, Alexander Lacher has been an active advocate for the insurance industry at large. He formerly served as a working group member within the “Legal & Compliance” division of the Swiss Insurance Association, demonstrating a steadfast dedication to upholding industry standards. Furthermore, his role as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Supervisory Board of a cantonal bank showcased his adeptness in navigating the intricate financial and regulatory landscapes.
Lacher’s impact reaches beyond the insurance industry. He currently serves as the President of the Parliamentary Supervisory Board at Schwyzer Kantonalbank, a midsize cantonal bank in Switzerland. Moreover, his involvement in the political arena as a member of the Canton of Schwyz Parliament adds another dimension to his multifaceted leadership.
