Baker McKenzie with Dertour Group on Hotelplan acquisition
Baker McKenzie advised the Dertour Group on its acquisition of the Hotelplan Group from Swiss retailer Migros, with the sole exception of Interhome.
The context
Buyer Dertour Group is a is a german travel holding, employing over 10,000 people across 16 markets. A subsidiary of German retail group Rewe, its portfolio features brands like Dertour, ITS, Meiers Weltreisen and Kuoni. The company holds over 2,000 travel agencies and operates across 31 travel destinations.
In connection with the deal, Dertour finalised the acquisition of Swiss leisure and business travel group Hotelplan. Headquartered in Glattbrugg, Hotelplan employs about 2,500 people across 238 locations. In the fiscal year 2024, the group generated CHF 1.78 billion in revenues. The acquisition encompasses four out of five business units of the Hotelplan Group. The remaing one is holiday home specialist Interhome, which has been ceded to the HomeToGo Group.
The takeover is pending approval from the relevant antitrust authorities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transaction.
