Homburger advises Migros with its new Migros Supermarkt

Migros has announced a series of steps in its plan to bundle its supermarket business into a centrally managed stand-alone company, Migros Supermarkt. This business represented CHF 12 billion in revenues by 2022. Migros Supermarkt is scheduled to start operations on 1 January 2024. Migros is a cooperative union active in the retail sector and is itself the largest employer in Switzerland.

Homburger has advised Migros on all corporate, tax and competition law aspects of this reorganization. The team was led by partners Daniel Daeniker (pictured left) and Daniel Häusermann (pictured right; both corporate/m&a) and includes Reto Heuberger, Philippe Weber, Philippe Gobet, Alexander Cochardt and Ombeline Hirschier (all tax), Marcel Dietrich, Andreas Burger and Christoph Grüninger (all competition), Olivier Bühlmann, Oriana Schöni, Bianca Nedwed, Erik Habich and Sabrina Vieli (all corporate/m&a), as well as Stefan Bindschedler (finance) and Jeremy Reichlin (employment).
