Kellerhals Carrard: Mobiliar acquires Seminar Center in Emmental

Kellerhals Carrard has acted as legal counsel to Mobiliar, one of Switzerland’s oldest private insurance company, in the successful acquisition of the Appenberg Hotel and Seminar Center in Emmental. Mobiliar is set to revitalize the property and transform it into the Campus Appenberg, a hub for innovation and lifelong learning. The grand reopening of the campus is scheduled for 2026, coinciding with Mobiliar’s momentous 200th anniversary.

Under the transaction, Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company purchased the Hotel and Seminar Center Appenberg from its previous owners. Nestled between Zäziwil and Oberhünigen, the scenic resort village boasts twelve distinct buildings.

Mobiliar, in line with its commitment to ongoing growth and evolution, will undertake significant remodeling efforts before unveiling the revitalized Campus Appenberg in the summer of 2026. This transformative project forms a key component of Mobiliar’s 200th anniversary initiatives, which will include both major and minor projects commemorating the company’s rich history.

The Campus Appenberg is envisioned as a dynamic center for innovation, lifelong learning, culture, and networking. Designed primarily to benefit Mobiliar’s esteemed employees and valued customers, the facility represents a strategic investment in the company’s corporate culture and long-term competitiveness.
