Lenz & Staehelin announces new promotions

Lenz & Staehelin has announced the promotion of Ariel Ben Hattar and Patrick Schärli to the firm’s partnership. Lina Christou and Laure Baumann have been promoted to the role of counsel. The appointments come into effect on January 1, 2023.

Ariel Ben Hattar (pictured left) has been working at the firm as senior associate in the capital markets and FinTech practice groups in Geneva. He regularly advises listed companies, investors and market infrastructure operators on transactional and regulatory matters. He is also the secretary of the executive committee of the capital markets and technology association (CMTA), an association that develops standards for the use of new technologies in capital markets.

Lina Christou (pictured second from the left) has been appointed counsel. Until now she works as a senior associate in the Geneva office and is a member of the Banking and Finance group and the Investigations group, respectively. Prior to joining the firm, Eleni worked as associate for Linklaters, as well as the General Counsel’s Office of Morgan Stanley in London and in Tokyo where she specialised in capital markets transactions, including derivatives trades, asset backed securities, repackagings and various structured products.

Patrick Schärli (pictured second from the right) specialises in capital markets and financial services law and advises both issuers and banks acting as underwriters in equity and bond issues. Prior to this, he was clerk at the District Court of Lenzburg and associate at Lenz & Staehelin from 2013.

Laure Baumann (pictured left) has also be appointed as counsel. Prior to this she worked at EY as senior manager.
