Lenz & Staehelin: Cité Gestion on the tokenization of its own shares

Cité Gestion, a Swiss bank and wealth manager, has issued its shares in the form of ledger-based securities -a process often referred to as “tokenization”- and obtained the CMTA. Tokenized Shares certification.

The Swiss bank is the first private bank to secure the certification, which is issued by the Capital Markets and Technology Association, and the first to issue its own securities on a blockchain under Swiss law.

The independent Swiss private bank was founded in 2009 and is using Taurus technology to tokenize its own shares as the bank delves deeper into blockchain technology.

Lenz & Staehelin has advised Cité Gestion in the process. The team was led by Ariel Ben Hattar (FinTech/corporate and m&a, pictured) and included Fedor Poskriakov (FinTech) and Yaël Nahmani (corporate and m&a).
