NKF advises Varta on bridge financing
Niederer Kraft Frey (NKF) acted as Swiss legal advisor to Varta in connection with a German law bridge financing agreement, securing essential liquidity for the company as it continues its restructuring under the German StaRUG framework (German Act on the Stabilisation and Restructuring Framework for Companies). This bridge financing is a pivotal element in Varta AG’s efforts to stabilise its core electronic battery business, which plays a vital role in preserving jobs and value creation across both Germany and Switzerland.
Varta, operating in battery technology, manufactures and markets a wide range of batteries, from micro batteries to household batteries, energy storage systems, and custom battery solutions.
The NKF team advising on the deal was led by M&A/Finance partners Adrian Koller and Philip Spoerlé, supported by junior associates Géraldine Küderli and Manuel Constam (both M&A/Finance), and partner Markus Kronauer (Tax).
