Pestalozzi advises EIP with its investment in Metafuels

Metafuels, a Switzerland based developer of a groundbreaking technology for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) compatible with existing aircrafts, announced its first institutional funding round, led by prominent climate VC investor Energy Impact Partners (EIP) alongside with Contrarian Ventures. The partnership is expected to boost Metafuels’ ongoing development of the SAF technology. The Zurich-based startup, which will use the proceeds from the funding round to set up a pilot facility at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), believes its product will be a viable 100 percent synthetic jet fuel substitute by 2030.

Pestalozzi advised EIP on Swiss law aspects of the financing round, cooperating with Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt. The team was composed by partners Franz Schubiger (pictured left) and Petra Hanselmann (pictured right) as well as associate Raphael Widmer and junior associate Seraina Oschwald (all corporate /M&A) as well as partner Nils Harbeke (tax).
