PHC Group, Davide Borelli is global head of group data protection

Davide Borelli (pictured) was promoted to Global Head of Group Data Protection at Panasonic Healthcare Corporation (PHC) Holdings, a conglomerate of companies active in 170 countries in the life sciences, medtech and diagnostics fields. Based in Basel, the professional will report directly to the Group General Counsel and to the board through the so-called Data Protection Committee.

Hired in 2020 as Senior Legal Counsel and Deputy Global Head of Group Data Protection, from April 2021 the lawyer will hold the positions of Global Head of Group Data Protection and Group Data Protection Officer. His goal is to make sure that the group acts in accordance with the data protection legislation. To this purpose, Borelli will lead an expanding team primarily of data protection lawyers (the Data Protection Office) and structured in three major regions (US, EMEA and APAC).

Among other things, he is a also a member the Data Protection Committee of MedTech Europe, the European trade association representing the medical technology industries, including medical devices, in vitro diagnostics and digital health. Having been in private practice for most of his career, he has had experience in a wide range of complex legal matters involving technology and data across a variety of sectors. He has advised clients on a broad range of matters, including IT outsourcing, data privacy and cyber risk management, cloud computing, deployment of data privacy management tools (OneTrust, Nymity), adverse scrutiny (law enforcement, data subjects’ complaints) handling, data breach management, and M&A transactions.
