Ringier Group, new appointments in the legal department

Ringier Group legal department has reorganised the legal department into two core areas: Commercial IP & Technology and Corporate/M&A. These changes, effective June 2021, reflect the new requirements within the group and the corresponding demands on the legal department.

As part of the restructuring, Laurence Hulliger (pictured top left) will be promoted to Head of Legal for Commercial IP & Technology, and Lucas Hänni (pictured top right) to Head of Legal for Corporate/M&A.

The remodelling of the Ringier Group legal department has been made by Manuel Liatowitsch, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of Ringier (and member of the Group Executive Board and Head of the Corporate Center of Ringier since May 202) and will meet the requirements and demands of a diversified, international media company. Above all, this changes will make it easier to find the right legal contact within the Group.

In particular, as Head of Legal for Commercial IP & Technology, Laurence Hulliger – who works in the company as Legal Counsel since 2010 – will handle general contract law, employment law, intellectual property law (in particular copyright and trademark law) advertising and media law, public law, technology, IT law and data protection law (contractual aspects).

Before joining Ringier, Laurence Hulliger practiced law for five years at the law firm Meyerlustenberger Lachenal. Laurence Hulliger’s team also includes Annegret Kammermann and Stephanie Bruderer-Lattmann (pictured right), who took up her role as Legal Counsel on 1 May 2021.

Lucas Hänni has had an international role as Senior Counsel, Corporate/M&A for the Ringier Group since 2016. As Head of Legal for Corporate/M&A, he will be responsible for the focal areas of M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions, corporate law, financing, restructuring, corporate investment management, and corporate governance and ownership structures (KYC).

Before joining Ringier, he spent seven years practicing law at the law firm Walder Wyss in Zurich and two years at an international investment company. He is also the author of numerous specialist publications. In his new role, Lucas Hänni team also includes: Christoph Aeberhardt and Karin Mülchi (pictured left), who also took up her role as Legal Counsel on 1 May 2021.
