Squire Patton Boggs: Philip Prowse and Jameel Tarmohamed new partners

Squire Patton Boggs hired Philip Prowse and Jameel Tarmohamed as partners in its London-based financial services practice group. Joining from Stephenson Harwood along with associate Andrew Green, they will play an active role in bolstering the firm’s trade finance capabilities across Europe,  including the  recently opened Geneva offices.

Philip Prowse

Prowse specialises in commodities trade finance, with particular focus on the financing processes behind the international supply of energy, hard commodities, and soft commodities. Within this field, he covers finance matters, oversees security trading processes, and handles other transactional documents. He’s a trusted advisor for traders, banks, other financial institutions, suppliers, sellers and purchasers. Prowse also has significant experience in digital trade finance, encompassing blockchain systems, crypto assets, smart contracts, and digital trade platforms.

Jameel Tarmohamed

Jameel Tarmohamed advises banks, corporates, traders and investors all across multiple jurisdictions, including emerging economies. His expertise spans the full range of structured trade and commodity financings. He also specializes in digital trade and the related integration of technologies into his clients’ businesses, as well as carbon credit transactions in the commodity market.

The new joiners

These additions underscores the firm’s commitment to expanding its trade finance practice, with a focus on serving financial institutions, development banks, and traders.

For Kate Sherrard, co-leader of the commodities and shipping industry group and managing partner in Geneva, their arrival “will open up several opportunities across the commodities supply chain”  for Squire Patton Boggs’ industry group, including the Geneva’s contentious commodities team.
