UBS Switzerland issues EUR 1 bn fixed rate covered bonds: the advisors

On September 23, 2024, UBS Switzerland, advised by Homburger and Walder Wyss, successfully completed its issuance of EUR 1 billion fixed rate covered bonds due September 23, 2027 under its covered bond programme. The Covered Bonds are governed by Swiss law and are listed on SIX Swiss Exchange. The covered bonds are indirectly backed by a portfolio of mortgages from UBS Switzerland’s domestic mortgage pool. UBS AG acted as Arranger and UBS AG London Branch, Bank of Montreal London Branch, Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft, DZ BANK AG Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank, Frankfurt am Main, Natixis and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ) as Joint-Lead Managers and Dealers and Banca Akros S.p.A. and La Banque Postale as Co-Lead Managers and Dealers.

Homburger’s team

Homburger advised UBS Switzerland as issuer and UBS Hypotheken Schweiz as guarantor in respect of all transactional, regulatory and tax aspects of Swiss law. The Homburger team was jointly led by Stefan Kramer (pictured left) and Benedikt Maurenbrecher and included Daniel Hulmann, Yulia Shaburnykova and Caroline Grand (all capital markets) as well as Stefan Oesterhelt (tax).

Walder Wyss’ team

Walder Wyss advised the arranger and the dealers in respect of all transactional, regulatory and tax aspects of Swiss law in relation to the issuance. The Walder Wyss team was jointly led by finance/capital markets partner Roger Ammann (pictured right) and finance/capital markets partner Johannes A. Bürgi and included tax partner Thomas Meister and finance/capital markets trainee lawyer Emma Blass.
