Augustin Barrier promoted partner at Lalive

International arbitration counsel Augustin Barrier (pictured) has been promoted to partner at Lalive, effective January 2025.

Barrier joined Lalive’s Geneva office in 2016, proceding from Dentons, as associate and became then counsel in 2020 . He specializes in international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration, with a particular emphasis on joint ventures, supply and distribution, and foreign investments disputes in the energy and mining sectors, notably in Europe and Africa. He has acted as counsel in numerous international arbitral proceedings under various institutions (ICC, LCIA, SCC, NAI, CCJA, ICSID) as well as proceedings governed by substantive and procedural laws, both common and civil law, such as French, Swiss, Swedish, English, Algerian, Nigerian, Mauritanian, OHADA or international law.

Promotions to counsel

Lalive further promoted five senior associates to counsel. These are Andrea Florin and Gabriela Svalduz (both Zurich), Louise Aellen and Roxane Pedrazzini (both Geneva) and Adrien Canivet (London’s office). These promotions will alse be effective on January 2025.

Andrea Florin joined Lalive’s Zurich office in 2019. She specializes in civil and employment law, with particular expertise in advising and representing private clients in complex domestic and international family and inheritance law disputes.

Gabriela Svalduz joined Lalive’s Zurich office in 2022. She previously served as a prosecutor, with a focus on economic crime and cybercrime. She specializes in complex domestic and cross-border litigation, in particular white-collar crime, asset recovery, international mutual legal assistance, internal investigations, and compliance, in particular regarding anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, blockchain technologies, and ESG matters.

Louise Aellen joined Lalive’s Geneva office in 2019. She specializes in complex domestic and cross-border litigation, with a focus on banking litigation, white-collar crime, and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

Roxane Pedrazzini joined Lalive’s Geneva office in 2018 and is currently spending a year on secondment in the London office. She specializes in domestic and cross-border litigation, representing clients in both civil and criminal proceedings. She has particular expertise in complex financial, banking, and commercial disputes, fraud litigation, and asset recovery, as well as employment law.
