Homburger advises Reuge on its sale of a majority stake to De Bethune

The controlling shareholder of Reuge, the renowned music box producer, successfully completed the sale of a majority stake in the Reuge manufacture to the Swiss luxury watchmaker De Bethune. The independent watchmaker, known for its complications and bold designs with cobalt blue elements, has acquired a majority stake in the 155-year-old Swiss maker of music boxes and automatons, including singing birds.

De Bethune was acquired last year by WatchBox, the global pre-owned watch platform, but is operated independently. Reuge will be run by the De Bethune team. Together, the two Sainte-Croix-based companies will expand their technical vocabulary, developing synergies to accelerate the renewal of art mechanics.

Homburger has advised the controlling shareholder of Reuge in this transaction. The team was led by partner Frank Gerhard (pictured) and comprised Romain Fakhoury, Isabelle Cordey, Pepe Hünerwadel (all corporate/m&a), Laetitia Fracheboud, Ombeline Hischier (both tax), Jeremy Reichlin (employment and executive compensation), Gregor Bühler and Kristina Martinovic (both IP / IT).
