Unilever names Maria Varsellona as its new chief legal officer

Maria Varsellona (pictured) joins the executive leadership team of Unilever as chief legal officer. She will be succeeding Ritva Sotamaa, who has decided to retire from the company at the end of March next year.

Varsellona is currently serving as the general counsel and company secretary for global technology company ABB. Prior to joining ABB, she held a number of high responsibility roles with Nokia Technologies, where she was the executive vice president and chief legal officer of Nokia, as well as President of Nokia Technologies. During her 25 years plus of legal career, Varsellona held senior legal positions in Tetra Laval Group, Switzerland, GE in Italy, and Hertz Europe
