MLL Legal advises Telegram on bond offering and digital asset functionality integration

MLL Legal has acted as Swiss legal counsel to Telegram on two distinct mandates involving regulatory and capital markets work in Switzerland.

In the first matter, MLL Legal advised Telegram on regulatory aspects relating to the potential integration of digital asset functionality into the Telegram ecosystem, which could enable the sending and receiving of digital assets — including transactions between consumers and merchants. The scope of work covered a regulatory analysis at the intersection of financial market infrastructure, payments regulation and AML/CTF law, alongside a review of the underlying technical architecture and its possible integration into the platform.

In a separate matter, MLL Legal also advised Telegram in connection with its USD 1.7 billion convertible bond offering in Switzerland.
