NKF advises Axpo on sale of minority stake of its subsidiary to BKV

Axpo Holding has completed the sale of a 49.9% minority stake in its Axpo Volt Beteiligung subsidiary, through which Axpo holds 31.37% of the  the national grid company Swissgrid. The buyer and new minority shareholder is BVK, the biggest pension fund in Switzerland. Axpo maintains a 50.1% majority stake in Axpo Volt Beteiligung, thus retaining full control of its Swissgrid participation in the long term.  

Axpo and BVK are entering a strategic partnership reflecting the long-term investment horizon of BVK. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Niederer Kraft Frey has advised Axpo Holding on the sale of the minority stake in Axpo Volt Beteiligung to BVK. The NKF team was co-led by corporate/m&a partners Patrik Peyer (pictured left) and Andreas Casutt (pictured right), working with associates Binderiya Gan-Ayush and Alexander Göbel and junior associate Tristan Bohn (all corporate/m&a), partner Daniela Schmucki and senior associate Derya Özdogan (all tax), partner Nicolas Birkhäuser (antitrust) as well as Andrea Rüttimann (capital market regulations).
