Sandoz Appoints Andrea Ferrari to Global Legal Role

In a recent LinkedIn announcement, Andrea Ferrari (pictured) revealed his new role as the Global Head of Compliance and Corporate Legal at Sandoz, marking a significant milestone in his career. The move comes after the spin-off from Novartis, offering the Sandoz Legal and Compliance Team a unique opportunity to play a direct role in the company’s growth and enhance its reputation as an industry leader. 

Having joined Sandoz in 2021 as the head of global legal functions, Ferrari brings a wealth of experience to his new position. His professional journey includes over a decade at Takeda, where he held various high-responsibility roles, including Vice President and General Counsel for Europe and Canada. During this time, he led a team with both regional and global responsibilities, managing a sizable budget and contributing to governance bodies. 

Ferrari’s skills encompass environmental awareness, diversity and inclusion, and expertise in the generic drugs sector. Before transitioning to in-house counsel roles, he gained valuable experience in private practice. Notably, he served as an Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, focusing on corporate matters, M&A, private equity transactions, IPOs, and commercial and marketing agreements. Additionally, he spent a year at Goldman Sachs, where he was seconded to the legal department of the Principal Investment Area, involved in a range of investments in Europe and India. His tenure at DLA Piper as an Associate in the corporate department further enriched his background, covering business law, project finance, intellectual property, and commercial litigation. 

Andrea Ferrari is a life-science lawyer with over 15 years of post-qualification experience in corporate, regulatory, commercial, and IP legal matters. He boasts a diverse background in both international law firms and global organizations as in-house counsel. With a solid decade of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and comprehensive knowledge gained during private practice, Ferrari brings a unique blend of skills to his new role. His extensive experience includes managing legal assistance across jurisdictions, coaching international legal teams, budget management, designing internal governance, and advising senior management and leadership.
