Wenger Vieli strengthens its teams with the appointment of 4 new partners

Martin Berweger, Michael Baier, Marc Walter and Martin Peyer (from left to right) have been appointed to the partnership of Wenger Vieli as of January 1, 2022. With them, the firm strengthens itself in the areas of corporate law, mergers & acquisitions (m&a), financial market law, funds and asset management, venture capital, private equity as well as fintech and blockchain.

 

Meet the new partners:

Michael Baier joined the firm in May 2018. He is an experienced venture capital and private equity lawyer. He heads the Start-up Desk of Wenger Vieli and supports young companies in all phases of growth, in particular in (university) spin-offs, financing rounds, exit transactions and the structuring of employee participation programs. Baier also advises investors on investments in Swiss start-ups and has extensive experience in M&A transactions.

 

Martin Berweger joined the firm in October 2016. He has extensive expertise in the field of business law, as a lawyer, notary and economist. He supports start-ups, SMEs, investors and entrepreneurs in start-ups, financing rounds, m&a transactions, restructurings and joint ventures. His areas of expertise also include blockchain projects and the responsibility of boards of directors and managing directors. Berweger is involved in several boards of directors and foundations as well as a lecturer at universities.

 

Martin Peyer joined the firm in November 2020. He specializes in banking, insurance and financial market law. He supports clients in complex regulatory issues and compliance matters and represents them in approval and enforcement procedures. Another focus of his work is in the area of funds and asset management as well as in the regulation of fintechs. In addition, Peyer has broad experience in m&a transactions and independent internal investigations in the financial sector as well as in financing.

 

Marc Walter joined Wenger Vieli in February 2008. He has since held a number of roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as senior associate. He specialises in international and national M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions. Walter supports companies and their owners in company acquisitions and sales, corporate succession planning, restructuring, corporate governance as well as in the field of capital market law and general corporate and commercial law. He also advises start-ups and investors in all phases of the venture capital investment cycle, from start-ups, financing rounds to exit.
