YIAG appoints Adetola Adebesin as Regional Representative

The Young International Arbitration Group (‘YIAG’), an association supported by the London Court of International Arbitration (‘LCIA’) and dedicated to practitioners, students, and young members of the arbitration community, has recently announced the appointment of Adetola Adebesin (pictured) as its new regional representative in Switzerland.

The appointed Regional Representatives play a vital role in supporting the YIAG Co-Chairs and actively promoting the initiatives and activities of YIAG within their respective geographical regions or designated communication channels.

Adebesin is an accomplished international arbitration attorney currently serving at Sidley Austin in Geneva, Switzerland. With a career spanning over six years, he has successfully represented corporations, multinational entities, and governments in various intricate and high-profile commercial and investment disputes. Adebesin’s expertise extends to acting as counsel under multiple institutional arbitration rules, with a particular emphasis on matters related to Africa.

Before joining Sidley, he honed his skills at the renowned Nigerian law firm Olaniwun Ajayi LP for five years. During this time, Adebesin gained valuable sector-specific knowledge in finance, energy, and projects, providing guidance to clients on international disputes and litigation pertaining to arbitration. His experience also includes handling enforcement and set-aside proceedings before Nigerian courts.

Notably, Adebesin is recognized as a Co-Founder of the Nigeria Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (Nigeria VYAP), a platform dedicated to promoting arbitration among young practitioners in Nigeria.

As a licensed legal practitioner in Nigeria, Adebesin is authorized to practice law in his home jurisdiction.
