ACC Europe conference begins in Edinburgh

Kicking off the ACC Europe 2024 conference, this year scheduled for 22-24 May at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in media partnership with Inhousecommunity, Iberian Lawyer and LegalcommunityCH.

The main topic of the conference is ‘Legal & beyond’: in a rapidly evolving legal landscape, in fact, general counsel who wants to stay ahead of the game must also know and manage what lies beyond the legal world, beyond the law, exploring the economic, political and social aspects in which their organisation’s business falls.

The ACC Europe conference is now a regular event for members of the International Association of Corporate Lawyers, as well as for companies and academic bodies from across Europe and the world. This year’s event consists of more than 30 meetings and panels focusing on the issues that legal professionals care most about, such as the use of artificial intelligence to increase team efficiency, environmental and social sustainability, diversity and inclusion objectives, governance, antitrust, and crisis management. In addition to participating in the various panels and roundtables, participants also had the opportunity to connect with colleagues during the various networking and entertainment opportunities.

The conference officially started on Wednesday afternoon, 22 May, with a welcome address by Veta TRichardson, president and ceo of ACC, followed by the opening keynote session featuring Lucy Parker, author of “The Activist Leader,” and Duncan Weston, partner at CMS, who discussed active leadership by those who lead corporate legal departments along with Maria Rocha Barros, chief legal & public affairs officer at Booking.com, and Arna Grímsdóttir, CLO at HS Orka.
