Niederer Kraft Frey advised Transgourmet Ibérica in joint venture with Nudisco.

Swiss law firm Niederer Kraft Frey advised Spanish food distribution company Transgourmet Ibérica on its joint venture with fellow Iberian distributor Nudisco.

The parties

Active in the food distribution business for hotels, caterings, and supermarkets, Transgourmet Ibérica reached a joint venture agreement with Nudisco, a specialist in canned food sales. The partnership is set to strengthen their presence in Spain’s Levante region for the supermarkets segment.

Transgourmet Ibérica is part of the Swiss Coop Group, and operates across Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Romania, and its home market of Spain, employing over 30,000 people and generating a net income of approximately CHF 11.6 billion.

The Coop Group is active in the retail sector, as well as in production and wholesale. Transgourmet Ibérica accounts for the Group’s entire wholesale activity. Across all its divisions, the Group employs over 95,000 people and records net sales of approximately CHF 34.6 billion.

The joint venture’s completion is pending approval from Spain’s National Authority for Markets and Competition (CNMC).
