NKF advises Marché on its acquisitions of Popeyes

Niederer Kraft Frey has advised Marché Restaurants Schweiz (a subsidiary of Coop) on the acquisition of three Popeyes restaurants located in Basel, Zurich Oerlikon and Spreitenbach from QR Group. The acquisition of the Swiss offshoot of the American restaurant chain affects Marché expansion. With Popeyes, Marché wants to step on the gas in Switzerland’s fast food scene. The opening of further Popeyes restaurants in Letzipark Zurich and at the La Côte Lac motorway service station in Bursins in the canton of Vaud is planned for the beginning of next year.

Marché Restaurants Schweiz is the market leader in Swiss highway catering. The American sandwich chain Popeyes is a chain of fried chicken fast food restaurants that was originally formed in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The NKF team was led by partner Moritz Maurer (pictured), working with senior associates Samuel Hochstrasser (corporate/m&a) and Annina Fey (real estate/employment), as well as junior associate Yannik Bleiker (corporate/m&a).
